George Herbert Walker Bush, commonly known as George H.W. Bush, was the 41st President of the United States, serving from 1989 to 1993. Born on June 12, 1924, in Milton, Massachusetts, he hailed from a family with a long history of public service. Before his presidency, Bush had an extensive career in government and public service, including serving as the Vice President under Ronald Reagan from 1981 to 1989.

During his presidency, Bush navigated the nation through a pivotal period that included the end of the Cold War and the dissolution of the Soviet Union. He skillfully managed the response to the Iraqi invasion of Kuwait in 1990, leading a coalition of nations in the Gulf War to liberate Kuwait. Despite these accomplishments, Bush faced challenges at home, including economic troubles that contributed to his defeat in the 1992 election against Bill Clinton.
