He ascended to the presidency after the assassination of William McKinley and became the youngest president in American history at the age of 42.

Roosevelt is widely recognized for his progressive policies, known as the "Square Deal," which aimed to address social and economic issues through regulatory reforms. He championed antitrust legislation, consumer protection, and conservation, establishing numerous national parks, forests, and monuments.
