Warren G. Harding

Warren G. Harding, the 29th President of the United States, served from 1921 until his death in 1923. Born on November 2, 1865, in Corsica (now Blooming Grove), Ohio, Harding's presidency was marked by a mix of successes and scandals. A Republican senator from Ohio, he ran on a platform promising a "return to normalcy" after the tumultuous years of World War I. Harding advocated for a limited government role in business and favored pro-business policies.

While Harding aimed to bring stability to the country, his administration faced notable scandals such as the Teapot Dome scandal, involving the illegal leasing of government oil reserves. Despite these challenges, Harding signed the Fordney-McCumber Tariff Act and the establishment of the Bureau of the Budget. Unfortunately, his presidency was cut short when he died suddenly of a heart attack on August 2, 1923, in San Francisco. Despite the scandals that tarnished his legacy, Harding's death led to a period of national mourning, and subsequent investigations revealed the extent of corruption within his administration.
