Utah State Seal

Utah State Seal

The Great Seal of the State of Utah, adopted in 1896, is a prominent emblem defined by Utah law. It features a two-and-a-half-inch diameter design consisting of a central shield with an outstretched American Eagle perched on it. The top of the shield is pierced by six arrows, forming a cross. Below the arrows is the motto "INDUSTRY," and beneath it, a beehive flanked by sego lilies. The figures "1847" are placed below these symbols, signifying the year of Utah's settlement. Two American Flags stand on each side of the shield. Encircling the outer edge of the seal are the words "THE GREAT SEAL OF THE STATE OF UTAH," with the figures "1896" at the base
